1961 Gibson Les Paul - Howard Leese owned
Now this is something special. An early 1961 Gibson Les Paul (SG) owned and played by the legendary rock guitarist Howard Leese of the band “Heart” with a note from him. Powered by two original PAF pickups, it packs a punch but with that sensitive and spatial sound of the early 1960s “Patent Applied For” humbuckers.
It’s all original except for a small switch near the knobs that is inactive and a refret. The neck is very unique and part of a longer story of the serial number 2222. Truly one of the best playing most comfortable neck I’ve played on a ‘61.
The word is that in the late 1950s and early 1960s Gibson often had necks made that were not assigned and stamped them all with 2222. This neck has almost uniform depth all the way up the neck but with a wide nut; a perfect balance.
This is a very unique and early 1961 Les Paul (SG) and a piece of Rock history. Includes original Lifton brown/pink case.
